During the Morehead Writing Project summer writing camps writers will have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Freewriting
  • Writing workshop
  • Writing group

Camp activities will also include:

  • Skills lessons
  • Peer and adult support to develop finished writing
  • Using computers to draft, revise and create
  • Using technology to create and publish writing
  • Camps will be led by certified teachers with advanced National Writing Project training and include support from Morehead State University Education students.

  • Camps will be led by certified teachers with advanced National Writing Project training and include support from Morehead State University  Education students.

In 2017, we will offer five camps in four locations and serve three different age groups:

  • Maysville Young Writers Camp (grades 1-6): May 29th-June 2nd, 9 am-noon at Straub Elementary School in Maysville (Jennifer Kidd and Brandis Carlson-instructors)
  • MSU Intermediate Writers Camp (grades 4-8): June 5th-9th, 9 am- 2 pm. at MSU Combs (Abby Thomas – instructor)
  • MSU Teen Writers Camp (grades 9-12): June 26th-30th, 9 am – 2 pm at MSU Combs (Terry Lewis and Stacie May-instructors)
  • Montgomery County Intermediate Writers Camp (grades 4-8): July 10th-14th, 9 am – 2 pm at Montgomery County Intermediate School (Natasha Mora-instructor)
  • Lexington Young Writers Camp (Grades 2-5): July 10-14, 10 am-2 pm at Garrett Morgan Elementary School (Mallory Howard, instructor)

Registration fees include:

  • Global Graffiti t-shirt
  • Flash drive
  • Global Graffiti journal
  • Global publication

Note: Lunch is provided at all locations except MSU campus
